Our Exciting Field Trip to Mahabalipuram

Its November already and it is my birthday in another 3 days  ... Excited.

We went on a field trip to Mahabalipuram on Friday, 6th November...It was an awesome exprience...

We started by 6:30 am from school and reached there by 8 am. We had our breakfast at A2B. Went to 7D movie which was about 30 mins plus complementary movie which was about 10 mins so that's a total of 40 mins in the theatre.

Then we visited Govt. College of Sculpture in which the sculptures are made. Then went to Five Rathas & many places. Later we visited the Butterball - One place I loved to visit. Our class climbed all the way to the top and spent an enjoyable hour splashing at the small pond at the top then climbed down. I should say it was an adventure all together... Here are the pics from the field trip.

Our School Science Exhibition - 31 Oct 2015

Another important enjoyable event we looked forward to was Our Science  & Art Exhibition. It was yesterday that we conducted our science exhibition.

Last three days were busy for us, collecting models, arranging things in order, writing charts, pasting & pinning those...

Our project this year was " INTEGRATED ORGANIC FARMING ".

We, the girls of 9th Standard, wanted to make something interesting. So I discussed & asked dad for an idea. He suggested Integrated Organic Farming.

We want that to be something attractive... then flashed the Live Model Concept. We thought of its pros & cons & asked dad whether he could arrange for a help. He said yes & gave us a list of things to buy. Then he arranged a farmer to setup the live model. Mom asked us to collect all the important details about Organic Farming & how to integrate in an effective manner.

We collected all the details including the preparation of Panchagavya, an organic fertilizer, all through the week for writing charts.

The day before our science exhibition, the farmer arranged by dad came to help us set the field & banana farm, in the 10'x10' area given to us in a classroom, where biology exhibition was planned. He setup the field in a pukka manner. Also made a pond with plaster of paris below the poultry.

On the exhibition day, we went a bit early to the school to put fishes in the pond, chicks in the poultry & then we arranged all the by-products in their respective places.

Few pictures of our Integrated Organic Farming ....

Thank you very much Our Madam, Gaithri Miss, Backiyalakshmi Miss & all our Teachers for your   support & letting us do this wonderful project to create awareness among parents & other visitors about the economical way of organic farming, by integrating it.

Abi Aunty's Wedding @ Le Royal Meridien - A Mix of both North & South Indian Wedding

Now setting my mind on rewind mode to a few days before our school Science Exhibition, we went to our Cousin, Abi aunty's wedding at Le Royal Meridien in Chennai, on 18th & 19th October 2015. We attended both, her Sangeet and her Wedding. I dressed in dual contrary costume (ie) North-Indian style for the Sangeet and South-Indian traditional style for the Wedding. The two days were enjoyable...meeting relatives, dancing at sangeet, trying on new shades of nail glitter before the wedding and so on ...

Here the pics from Sangeet and the Wedding.

Well, I have run out of pics to post...so will type another post soon...

Our School Annual Day - Wonderful it was...

Hi guys...Its been a long time since I posted in my blog. I was so busy for the last few months, so no time to blog.... But now I have a lot to catch up,and I made a mental note to post often in my blog....

One of the important events we looked forward to this year, was the Annual day held on September 30th 2015, at Kamban Kalaiarangam.

It was an awesome annual day function, as we all enjoyed every second of it. Viga came to the function along with aunty. She has become a bit thin & slightly tanned. We enjoyed chitchats.

Each & every program started with a small introduction- conversation kind of between our Vice Principal Gaitri Mam & Vivek Sir. An innovative new idea ... well appealed to the audience as well. My Grandfather Prof. Elango,  told us that this part was really excellently done.

More than the actual dancing we looked forward to the practice sessions (as we get the whole day free ;-)). Though we were a bit disappointed, as the sound system was not really that good and when it was time for our dance, we could only hear the music & the lyrics of the songs ( fusion of 4 songs) were inaudible. We actually practised pretty well. As the famous saying goes,"When you have great expectations, you are setting yourself for disappointment."

Here are the few pics from the annual day...

We enjoyed it altogether ....

Chithi's Story In Mangaiyar Malar

Nithya Chithi's another story has been published in Tamil Magazine Mangaiyar malar, dated 16/02/2015, titled "Shraddha Endroru Devathai" .

We all know she is a versatile writer, who loves to write stories and many of them has been published in Varamalar, Devathai, Aval Vikatan,Thendral & now in Mangaiyar malar.

Also a wonderful blogger, who loves to cook & post recipes in her blog Nithu's Kitchen, Aval Vikatan, The Hindu and recently a full page cookery article in Tamil Hindu. Her website address is www.nithubala.com

Here is the picture of her story published in Mangaiyar Malar ...

1st & 2nd page of the story

3rd page of the story

Its a wonderful story, that concentrates on human feelings and their emotions at different phases of life. This says that one should look after things from others angle / perspective.

Mom used to say "Thanakku Vandhaa Dhaan Theriyum Maththavanga Valiyum, Vedhanaiyum ... So Don't hurt others & their feelings with your words" ..

Same has been mentioned here ... Lovely nice story, Chithi.

Published in Kalki group magazines is yet another Feather on your cap dear... Congrats ...

(Note -- Another treat for this to me is again added to the earlier long list of treats pending... count this too... Be prepared for a big feast ... when I come there..)

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD

Happy Birthday My Dear Appa.

Today is your 47th Birthday. On this day when I recalled the past happenings, I feel very happy & blessed to have you both.

You love me, support me and encourage me.  You gave me courage to face difficult situations and made me to be a confident and an optimistic person. I have seen our family go through, a number of different phases and you are always strong and balanced.

You & Amma gave me so much freedom to decide on my group selection by hinting me the pros & cons of the group I have opted for, even though many of our friends told it is too early to decide on my own. .

You both have given me, my space to think and make me feel that you have utmost confidence in me. I’m sure I would not let you down pa.

You both created such a supportive and loving environment, that make me feel proud of you guys.

Thank you very much Dad & Mom for everything you have done for me.

As usual the day went by in a jiffy. After Prayers in the morning, we went to Appa's consultancy site, and spent an hour or so there and came back home. We accompanied him today, as it is his Birthday.  But the moment we stepped into our house, dad got a call and he has to go to the site again. He then came back home by 2 pm. We all had our lunch together at home.

Evening, we went to the beach, park, Assembly & Rajbhavan & I took pictures of colourful Pondicherry. As today is our Republic day, the city is full of colourful lights & crowded with people.

We had our dinner at Abirami. Again went back to the beach and this time we got a seat next to a tree & we rejoiced our day.

Thank you Dad for all that you do for us.

Pongal Celebrations at school

Sorry I have become so so lazy these days to write, then type the posts. This is the reason for my blog’s silence of late.

It has been a festival  month and full of enjoyment & fun. Right from  Amma’s Birthday on 22nd December, the celebrations continue till date.  From Dec 23rd the school closed for Christmas holidays and even after the school reopened at 2nd January 2015, the celebration mood didn’t fade away.  As we had Pongal celebrations in our school, so busy practicing for Pongal kolam, Rangoli, learning to make Sakkara Pongal (sweetened Jaggery Rice), first ten days went by in a jiffy. But I still have to learn to cook in a Mann Aduppu ….

On 13th January we had our Pongal celebrations at school. We all dressed up in a South Indian traditional Pavadai Dhavani  & I love that attire very much. From 6th standard onwards for every Pongal & Diwali, I used to buy a Pavadai Dhavani. We enjoyed our pongal celebrations at school. It was all fun to celebrate with my friends and teachers. Our Class boys won price for the Sakkara Pongal preparation. Hats off to you Friends.

Thank you Teachers for giving us this wonderful time to make us learn few new things to do on our own.

I will update this post with photos soon.
