Teachers' Day Preparations

I have been quite busy for the past one week - not writing anything in my Epistle. But I am back...
Today is half working day for me. After coming back from the school, I was preparing an article for Teachers' Day celebrations in our Brain O Brain Abacus Class.

I have been preparing two things for the past two days for Teachers' Day. One is an article about the Teachers' Day and another one is a Rare Photo collage of Dr.S.Radhakrishnan.

With regards to the article about the Teachers' Day, I have given an intro about the Teachers' day, then discussed about the World Teachers Day and atlast I have given details about Teachers' Day in India.

As of the rare photo collage of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, I have done in Picasa. Appa went to the studio to put a photo print of 10X8 size. It came out nicely. It has to be glued along with a Teachers' Day card, in which my three Abacus Teachers Pictures have been collaged, in a hand made Chart Paper. Preliminary works are completed with regards to the printouts & photo copies. Yet to complete it by pasting it and colouring the handmade charts to my ideas.
Rare Photo Collage of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan
My Three Abacus Teachers... From Top Left- Ramya Mam & Swathi Mam and Bottom Middle is Anandhi Mam

The third thing I have planned is a Quiz regarding the Teachers' Day, both the World and India's Teachers' Day. Compiled a few questions. Yet to complete it.

By 5 p.m. I went to the Brain O Brain Abacus class. There I did a science experiment, as it is one of my homework activities given  last week along with the preparation of the Teachers' Day activity.

Then I showed my teachers all that I have prepared for the TD. Every one appreciated and inspite of me telling that it has not yet been completed, one of my teachers told that it is enough and said that she would pin it up in the notice board. Also asked me to send the Greeting Card collage with all the three teachers to her mail Id , as one of my classmates needed it to fix it in his photo frame, as it has nothing pasted earlier. Hmmm.... Ok... Any ways I am going to send it to her mail ID.

Yeah...  its getting late. Damn tired after a hectic day. Good night all.
Back to you tomorrow with our Talent Time Photos.

A letter from Thatha... (Maternal GrandFather)

Today  I have received a letter and a gift, from Elango Thatha, my maternal grand father, through courier,  for my winning the competitions. Appa received it and kept it unopened in Sri Mother's Shelf.

I was relaxing after coming back from the school and having my evening health drink. I received a call from thatha. Only after I spoke to him, amma gave the letter from Thatha.

I opened it and saw a letter inside. When I read that It congratulates me for my success and asked me about the distribution of cake to my friends and to my dear teachers. He asked me to send the photographs of the competitions and the prize distribution. Also asked me to write letters instead telling everything over phone. From my 3rd standard he insists me writing letters, as it would develop my vocabulary and my flow of language. He even insists me writing the letters both in English and Tamil. Its only few times I have tried writing letters. somehow during my 3rd std, I find it difficult to write letters... used to get bored while explaining things in detail... also would get spelling mistakes while writing. Thats why I always hesitate writing letters.

This time during my visit to Chennai, Thatha introduced me to Lord Chesterfield's Letter to his Son and asked me to read that book. I kept on browsing the book from first page to the last page and read few sentences. Then I just flipped the pages. On seeing me do this, Thatha asked me whether I have read that page he has given. I said I am not in a mood as I want to play with Sathvi. He understood me and immediately asked me to go. I thought I would one day read this Book.

Thatha, after sometime read me few pages from  Lord Chesterfield's Letter to his Son. Its all about good manners and how to conduct ourselves in a crowd and so on... Its not just an advice. Something more than that. I told to myself that I would read this book soon.

Thanks Elango Thatha for all that you do for me.....

Sathvi Sweety....

Our dear little Sathvi kutty is so sweet.... spent two days with her....

We went to Chiththi's house by around 11 a.m. By that time she was sleeping. After sometime she cried.... Chiththi nursed her. Many relatives came to see her. I met few of our relatives for the first time. But spent a nice time with them.

By late evening, my great grand father ( Amma's Grand father) came along with his family to visit Chiththi & the New Born. He is my mom's maternal grandfather. They started home by around 9.30 p.m. That night, Sathvi never slept... cried for a long time. Really a hectic day for all at home. So many visitors in a  single day.... more than 8 families.... OMG....

Sathvi might be disturbed by these visitors... that's why she is crying too hard and not sleeping at all.

The next morning ( 15th August) we woke up early and got ready for prayers, as that day is Sri Aurobindo's Birthday, a Darshan Day at the Ashram. We prayed for 15 Mins.

By morning 8.30 a.m., Paatti ( GrandMother) took Sathvi to open terrace for sun bath. I asked why she was taken to sun bath in such an young age.... I was told that, Sun bath increases the Vitamin D in the body, which is a much essential vitamin. I have read this in my 1st std science book. But never thought that it has to be done in a new born. Yeah... now that I have learnt this.

During this sun bath time, Sathvi was so quiet. Never ever cried a bit. Oh... she is not a cry baby.... She enjoyed sun bath very much... smiled... watched all our faces.... coo softly.... lovely lovely sweety.... might be she loves to be in warm sun light....

Then she was given a good bath.  We gave our gifts for Sathvi, to Chiththi & Chittappa. We have bought her Sri Mother Symbol Dollar & three dresses of different colours. I loved the red one.  She slept without even being nursed. Let her sleep.... as in the night, she has never slept.

We started from chiththi's house by around 1 p.m. to catch bus to Pondy. Bus experience is totally different for me and I enjoyed my trip to Chennai this time.

Cake Treat

Yesterday I gave cake treat to all my friends and teachers. We have ordered two cakes, one for my dear teachers and the other one for my friends.

We have ordered a Black Forest Cake for my Teachers with the wordings
" MY HEART WELLS UP WITH THANKS, MY DEAR TEACHERS "....

and a Pineapple Cake for my Friends with the wordings " THANK YOU PALS FOR YOUR WISHES "....

Both Amma& Appa gave the cake to Vinpreet miss during the Maths class, so as to cut it & distribute it during the break time in afternoon 3 p.m. to 3.05 p.m.

By 3 p.m.,  I cut the cake in presence of  our class teacher Vinpreet miss, the other batch's maths teacher Vel sir, the following tamil class teacher Priya Miss. All of my friends were given the cake. Only few of my friends didn't eat the cake. On the whole, we all enjoyed this breaktime with tasty pineapple cake.

A Glorious Day....

        Today is a Great Day....

I went to school this morning with lot of excitement and anxiety.... as the results will be announced today afternoon....

Morning session, the Independence Day celebrations were there. Marchpast, followed by Flag Hoist by Our Principal, Mrs.Jareena Mam. Then, many of our friends and seniors gave speeches on Independence Day in English, Hindi and Tamil. It is followed by the Prize Distribution for the Talent Time Competitions held last week for the KGs and till 2nd Std. The Little Champion of Primrose (for KG Sections) is Srinidhi of L.K.G. She is very cute....  After the distribution of prizes, we went to our class.

After Lunch, we went to the assembly hall for the prize distribution of Our Talent Time.... At first, Flavia Miss announced the prizes for 3rd standard and then 4th std.  I have become restless & atlast Flavia Miss announced the prizes for 5th. I sighed with a big relief. I was surprised to hear my name as first prize in English Speech. I went to the prize distribution area and got 1st Prize Certificate and a Writing pad as prize.

Then I grew nervous as she read the prizes for Solo Dance. Then came the English Recitation, I shared the first prize with Fatema. Now I got the Prize Certificate and a Pen Holder as prize.

Again my anxiety grew ..... as the prizes for the States & Capitals & other competitions were announced. Then the time came for the announcement of Fancy Dress... I thought, for this, one of my classmates Siddarth might get the prize.... then I told to myself, why I think negatively.... for fancy dress also, I would definitely get the first prize.... Yeah.... There, Miss has called out my name as first prize in Fancy Dress.... I again got the first prize certificate and a photo album as prize.

WOW.... What a great moment.... I immediately thanked Sri Mother for all the prizes.

After sometime, Sunita Miss called out my name as the Champion of Primrose Primary Section....
I could not believe my ears.... what a glorious moment....  have no words to express my feelings at that time....

I went to the dais.... The Chief Guest tied me the Champion of Primrose Primary Section Tag and kept a crown over my head. I thanked the Chief Guest. My joy knew no bounds.... All my teachers and friends congratulated me.... Raghav & Others asked me a treat. Our Class Teacher Vinpreet Miss, Suni Miss, Vidyalakshmi Miss, Christina Miss, Meena Miss & few other teachers asked me treat. I planned a cake treat on wednesday, as we have a continuous holiday for four days till 16th August 2011, Tuesday.

I asked Mom & Dad to pick me up from the school.... I came out to tell the events after the school, as they were waiting for me in the waiting area..... I just opened the Champion Tag and showed them. Both of them were astonished a moment and then congratulated me.... While Mom asked me about the events,  Sunita Miss and Vidhyalakshmi Miss came to mom and congratulated her. Then Mom spoke to Suni Miss about the events. Then I said thank you to Suni Miss and started home.

We straight headed to the Ashram and offered thanks prayer. Then came home.

When I entered the house, Appa & Amma gave me three Tinkle Special Editions, which I longed for....

I thanked Amma & Appa for being so lovely.

A NEW ARRIVAL..... PUTHIYA SIRUSHTI....

I came back yesterday evening from a short vacation to Chennai, to my Aunt Nitya's Place, for four days from August 6 to August 9, 2011.

My Aunt Nitya Balaji gave birth to a Cute Little Girl Baby on August 8, 2011, evening. Cutie pie.... Sweet darling.... Smile beautifully & Coo softly.... She is so pink.... Her foot & palm are red & soft..... she is as red as an apple.... lovely little....

We all went to the hospital by 7.30 p.m., on 8th August, 2011, after the birth of our dear darling. My aunt was resting on the bed. I searched for the baby.... I was told that the baby was there in the baby room & it would come only the next day to the room.... Oh... I was much dissappointed..... I waited & waited the whole day to see the baby & now that they are telling that I could only see her tomorrow.....

After an hour or so, my chittappa Balaji (uncle) came and told us that the baby would come to room by 9.30 p.m. I was overjoyed on hearing this. I asked My Aunt & Uncle the name of our little darling. They said it is only to be told on the 3rd day after giving the name to the hospital records. But they have given me a clue that the name starts with S. I started thinking of all the names, related to Sri Mother..., as we are all the ardent devotees of Sri Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Later I concluded that it would be SHRI MIRA.... Yet to get confirmed by Chittappa & Chiththi.

Elango Thatha told us that our Guru Karmayogi, has told him that 8th August is the greatest day in the life of India when Gandhiji & Nehru were arrested in 1942.

By 9.45 p.m. cutie pie came to the room... The nurse showed her to all of us.... such a lovely little angel.... slowly she opened her eyes & saw who ever comes in front of her face... later she closed her eyes slowly... The nurse said that the Angel has come to the room to get her nursed. So we all came home from the hospital. I could not sleep that night as I was very much excited about my new born baby sister.

Again in the morning we all went to the hospital. Spent one hour with my sister. Slightly touched her foot & palm.... Wow... so.... soft.... Due to the strict hospital rules we waited and waited in the reception area till 12 O'Cock in the afternoon. In the meantime we went to Nilgris to get Dairy Milk box as a gift to the new born. Again went to the room in the 5th floor, gave the sweets to Chiththi and saw the baby sleeping in the cradle. Stood few minutes near the cradle to observe her sleeping, then waived hands to Chiththi and Chiththappa and we started to Pondicherry straight from the hospital.

Lovely Little Angel.... Miss you so much.... ;-)

The Last Day of Our Talent Time

Today is the last day of our Talent Time.... From tomorrow High School & Higher Secondary School's Talent Time Starts.... Vacation for all of our Primary sections for the next 3 days... till 7th of August... Planning a short trip to Chennai... But not yet confirmed...

This morning, we had Speech Competition in the Assembly Hall.... The Judges were Rhea Akka's Mom & another one, I don't know.  I spoke really well... except one.... I made a small mistake... later changed it ...  & spoke well.  We have to wait another 9 days for the results... It would be announced only on the Prize distribution day it seems.... The Prize Distribution has been planned on 12th August....

Afternoon session, Solo Dance & Hand Writing Competitions were held... Solo Dance for Classes I to  V, conducted in the assembly hall again.... Amma is one of the  3 Judges.... I could not believe my eyes.... She didn't tell me any single word about that.... Its only when my friends told me that my mom is sitting as the judge, I realised it is Amma... The other two Judges were Kala Aunty of 7th Std Anna, and Gandhimathi Aunty of 3rd Std Girl Hema.

Many of my friends danced well... Sanjana dressed & danced excellently well. Mrittika was really good & so as Siddarth & Vigasini. I don't know how amma marked them.... Really it is a difficult task.... I asked Amma about her marking.... She never revealed anything in particular... & said that ALL ARE EQUALLY EXCELLENT.... She told me the marking was very difficult in my Class & really very tough in Akash's Class... We all liked the way Adhi & Akash danced...

My opinion is Sanjuneetha in II Std., Adhi in III Std., Akash, Nishvitha & Divya in IV Std., Sanjana & Mrittika in our Class are really excellent.... Let the results come.... Hope most of my likings would get the prizes.

By 3 O'Clock, the competition was over. I asked amma to take me while leaving. Amma said that she & Appa would wait for me there at the school till closing. Also Sheela Miss came there & asked me to go to the class. I went to the class with little hesitation...;-).... as some of my friends would have gone for Handwriting Competition, which was followed by the Dance. I came out of the school by 4.30 p.m., & found both amma & appa were there in the waiting area.

After reaching home only, I remembered that I have French Class by 5.30 p.m., & Abacus Demo Practice Class any time between 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. I planned to go to French Class by 6 p.m. after finishing this blog post & went down to ask Sasi Mam about the French Teacher, Sasi Mam told me that today I have Hindi Class also along with the French... I told her I would come to the French Class only, as I have Abacus Demo. She said that she would convey that to Hindi Sir.

Life is too busy these days.... after returning from school... by 5.30 p.m., I have 1 hour French Class by around 5.45 p.m.  Later Hindi Class.... Some times, if I have too much work, I used to bunk only the Hindi Class, as of today....

As of the Photos, Amma asked Suni Miss. Miss is too busy in these competitions &  from tomorrow she would be too busy as the competitions for Higher classes starts.... They have their competitions till 6th August Evening... After 6th only she could post the photos. So I could post the photos only after Suni Miss post those in the Rose Buddies Blog.

I asked amma to check this post thoroughly as spelling mistakes would be there and asked her to post this, as I am in a hurry to the French Class.

I went to the school by 10.45 a.m. All of my friends were already inside the school, with their beautiful dresses & make-up. I dressed like a Barbie Girl, in the Pink Gown. My hair-do was really too good....
I joined them in the queue.... Siddarth acted like Veera Pandiya Kattabomman, Harsh acted like Subash Chandra Bose, Varsha... really gorgeous in her Manipuri Dress, Stephen dressed as Red Ant, Fathima dressed like a Muslim Woman... .

Sunil Anna would have taken the photos....  I would post the photos in my next post....

I spoke nicely.... After coming back from the stage... Amma took me to the basketball court to change my dress.... I removed my hairdos & changed to dark blue pencil fit jeans  & white tops... looked really nice. Amma wiped all my make-ups... & gave a little touch-up.... for afternoon session...

Later she gave me my Lunch bag & started home...

We played in the football lawn before our lunch. Later we finished our lunch & went to the Assembly Ground for our Recitation Competition. Suni Miss called me & asked me to give flowers to the Judges. I accepted this offer & ofcourse its my pleasure inviting them.

Both Sunil Anna & Swati Akka took photos for the recitation competition.  I would post pictures too in my next post....

When the Judges came, I was surprised to see Sujatha Miss, (left her job two years back), after a long time as one of the judges and don't know the other judge. I gave them roses with all my smiles. After a while the competition started. It started with I Std. We, V Std, were the last. I was the fourth one to recite in my class.
I did very well....

After our recitation competition, we all sat in our classes.... we were asked to go to the play ground as by 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., Countries & Capitals & from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., States & Capitals Competitions are to be held.
