Today I have received a letter and a gift, from Elango Thatha, my maternal grand father, through courier, for my winning the competitions. Appa received it and kept it unopened in Sri Mother's Shelf.
I was relaxing after coming back from the school and having my evening health drink. I received a call from thatha. Only after I spoke to him, amma gave the letter from Thatha.
I opened it and saw a letter inside. When I read that It congratulates me for my success and asked me about the distribution of cake to my friends and to my dear teachers. He asked me to send the photographs of the competitions and the prize distribution. Also asked me to write letters instead telling everything over phone. From my 3rd standard he insists me writing letters, as it would develop my vocabulary and my flow of language. He even insists me writing the letters both in English and Tamil. Its only few times I have tried writing letters. somehow during my 3rd std, I find it difficult to write letters... used to get bored while explaining things in detail... also would get spelling mistakes while writing. Thats why I always hesitate writing letters.
This time during my visit to Chennai, Thatha introduced me to Lord Chesterfield's Letter to his Son and asked me to read that book. I kept on browsing the book from first page to the last page and read few sentences. Then I just flipped the pages. On seeing me do this, Thatha asked me whether I have read that page he has given. I said I am not in a mood as I want to play with Sathvi. He understood me and immediately asked me to go. I thought I would one day read this Book.
Thatha, after sometime read me few pages from Lord Chesterfield's Letter to his Son. Its all about good manners and how to conduct ourselves in a crowd and so on... Its not just an advice. Something more than that. I told to myself that I would read this book soon.
Thanks Elango Thatha for all that you do for me.....
